Biography
Sibyl Windham, age 99 of North Zulch, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010 in Bryan. Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 2 at the Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch with Rev. Eugene Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Willowhole Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Lee, Todd Lee, Sidney Walker, Travis Hibbetts, Billy Don Bates and Wilmer Lawson.
Visitation is from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Windham was born in Madison County, Texas on January 24, 1911 to William Thomas & Allie (Newman) McGill. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a longtime member of the Free Will Baptist Church in North Zulch. Mrs. Windham received her Master’s Degree in education at the Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1960. She taught at Bundic in a one room school house and later she taught 3rd and 4th grades at North Zulch ISD where she taught for the rest of her teaching career. Mrs. Windham enjoyed painting pictures and flower gardening. She also enjoyed going to the Retired Teachers Association meetings.
Mrs. Windham was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Windham; daughter, Alba Fels; grandson, Joe David Fels; sister, Gladys Kirton and two brothers, Robert T. McGill and Royce V. McGill.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Smith of Houston, Rose Lee & husband, John of Spring; sister, Pauline Kimmey of North Zulch; three grandsons, Kenny Fels of Montgomery, Michael Lee & wife, Tammy of Mansfield, Todd D. Lee & wife, Maureen of Katy; five great grandsons; two great granddaughters; one great-great grandson; a nephew, Robert Milton McGill of Lewisville, GA and her care givers, Vicki Williams and June Williams.
